Second Life is coming to your mobile phone!

"Vollee is offering mobile access to Second Life world as an open beta free of charge. All you have to do is pre-register here and if you have a supported handset we will contact you shortly with instructions to get your mobile client. Initial roll-out will be this coming May in the US with more to follow based on pre-registration requests."

I personally can't wait to test the service - although I doubt it will support the UAE network anytime soon.

SL - Catching up

I downloaded the updated version of Windlight a couple of days back and went for a chilled spin on SL - The quality of the graphics/rendering is much better; I felt a clear improvement in the overall experience.

I hung out with Jade (my RL friend who got himself a brand new *super-slick* avatar) for a little while, checked out the villa he rented and caught up with his stories on the patio.

I should probably get one of these funky places myself.

Note: He promised that next time I visit, there will be a Diet Coke dispenser in the kitchen.

SL - Encounters & more

Here are the latest SL news:

Met a couple of funky characters (some heavy duty pre-Halloween action and a pregnant avi in Berkman), and jumped from the third floor of the Eiffel tower in Paris 1900 (with a parachute on, of course).

Ah! I almost forgot... A random resident did some trick (I obviously have no clue how/what), but I kept walking for a while with "sweety" and "princess" labels on top of my head :) - really funny experience.

Second life

SL - Marvin, the depressed android

Copolli (the super creative resident I blogged about earlier) is now officially Akasha's friend :) - Yay!

I saw her a couple of days back in Berkman, in the skin of a cute little robot (that she transferred to my inventory- Thank you!) and Akasha turned into Marvin, the depressed android (as its creator named it) - for a day.

We had a blast walking along as a pair, intriguing other avies with our random discussions; We also planned to take over the world (sitting in the grass), watched someone test his new shield, skated and went riding bicycles attached to zeppelins (pics above).

All of you non-SL-peeps are missing out on a lot, as you can see ;)

SL - New look

Speaking of boring avatar look... I did some heavy duty shopping the last couple of days, and that's what Akasha looks like now - I kind of think the sunglasses are pretty funky :)

SL - Creativity

Copoli is definitely one of the most creative/fun/experimental people I've met on SL.

I was very lucky yesterday to have a "private fashion show" in Berkman of some of the skins she owns, and all I can say is that I had a blast seeing all these different characters/looks.

Bumblebee is amazing, and it's only one of the few transformers outfits she has.
I'll try to take more pictures next time we bump into each other, it's totally worth it :)

SL - Meta-Encounters

I had two interesting encounters while flying around SL yesterday.

The first one was looking to "buy lamps for his castle" - I unfortunately didn't help him much. The cool thing is that he only spoke spanish, but had an embedded translator, that automatically translated whatever he was typing. Some of the translations sounded funny, but the idea is really cool :)

I met the second person in Berkman's sandbox. I thought the avatar was a proper work of art: The details in the skin are unbelievable! So I asked to take a picture with him for my album, but as you can see, Akasha wasn't looking when I took it ;)

Here are a couple of my weird/cute encounters while roaming around in SL...
An alien (or is it a flying spider?), and Snoopy playing the violin on some busy shopping street - I love the Woodstock detail :)

SL - BT hits Second Life

Ideas that I think of and that never see the light seem to be my life story.
Maybe I should just shut down my brain for a while, or turn tables around and actually start doing something about them.

While I was roaming in the office telling everyone how cool it would be to have a system in SL where residents could send sms from in-world to the real world (and was getting weird looks in return), BT was actually bringing the platform to life - another Google 411 frustration.

On the 14th of September, Cnet reported that "BT is developing services that could allow users of virtual worlds to call or text out to their colleagues and friends in the real world".

Should I just throw myself out the window or move on? Well, the only consolation I get out of all this, is the fact that I might not be so stupid after all (massaging my ego to avoid depression).

Totally random... but made me laugh...

SL - My kind of house!

I think I kind of found my dream house while roaming around SL: Beautiful slick architecture, large windows, hard wood floors, fireplace, chilled pool and of course, a big garden.

It's only missing a private beach ;)

The downside is that it is not for sale, it can only be rented.
And I'm not sure of the area, it's a bit too quiet.

I've been looking to buy a property/land/island on SL, but I'm not set on where yet.
Jade, any ideas?? ;)

SL - Week-end!

Akasha has a new pair of Ray-Bans, and has been tanning most of the week-end in Cuba (at the La Maria island specifically, one of the nicest places I've seen in SL - beautiful details) ;)

I also visited the Sistine chapel on the Vassar campus, and I'm very impressed by the reproduction work that was done. Great experience, highly recommended!

SL - Toys

Here's a selection of Akasha's latest toys (in order of appearance ;) ):

- The Nakku Hyokko bird: touch it and it makes weird sounds

- The robot doll: it doesn't do anything, it just looks cool

- The strawberry wand: "wear" the wand and leave a trail of strawberries as you walk around

- The bunny pet: no name for the bunny yet, but he sits quietly in Berkman

- The panda car: hop on a panda and fly around

Seriously, can you get any of these in RL (except for the bunny... maybe)?

SL - Chameleon

One of the things I like the most on SL is that I can toy around with looks non-stop, without any commitment or long term repercussions - haha :)

So here's the new Akasha, with tied hair and wearing loads of make-up (her eyes don't look right in the shot, but they're actually grey).

SL - Hairspray?

I went shopping around for flexi hair, and I found this hairdo quite funky :).
It moves really nicely when Akasha walks/flies.

I'm keeping it!

SL - Hello Kitty (bis)

Hmm.. laughing at the first T-shirt (actually the second ;) ) I ever designed on SL :)

It took me a couple of hours to figure out how it worked (kind of haha), but I had a blast playing around (designing for the sake of designing is always fun, and I am definitely less allergic to Photoshop).

Note: I know, I know, Akasha is hot, and Mr HelloKittyHell will kill himself if he sees this (but I have to say he was my main source of inspiration)

SL - Flying around

As I said earlier I've been roaming A LOT around Second Life, as Akasha Voom.

I've never talked about it, just because it is something that needs to be experienced first hand.

I must say I've been very lucky to have one hell of a guide take me through my SL first steps (Thank you Jimbo :) ), and I've been kind of addicted since (many reasons I won't list haha).

Fun places to visit, and fun things to do... Not to mention that the business opportunities are endless :) (unleash your imagination).

I'm learning a bit more everyday, and hope to start creating my own objects soon (yeah, right!).

Note: Ezzat joined as Zo Masala, which is an achievement in itself...
